Reproductive Justice Pathways for Chicago

Thursday, March 27 | 11AM - 12PM CST

KAN-WIN is excited to announce the recently published “Reproductive Pathways for Chicago” report, developed by Chicago Reproductive Justice Coalition (RJC) in collaboration with the Black Researchers Collective (BRC).

RJC, comprised of six Chicago-based organizations (Apna Ghar, BA NIA Inc., KAN-WIN, NAPAWF, Palenque LSNA, and SisterReach, Inc.) was formed in 2023 to address reproductive injustice in Chicago. In partnership with BRC, an organization with a mission to advance racial equity formed in 2019, RJC has conducted research to explore the barriers to reproductive justice for BIPOC women, birthing people, and LGBTQ+ communities in Chicago.

Through focus groups with women of color, this study documents how discrimination, economic obstacles, and cultural barriers prevent the realization of basic rights and access to sexual and reproductive healthcare, particularly in historically marginalized communities while centering the lived experiences of Black, Latine, Indigenous, AAPI, and LGBTQ+ and gender expansive communities.

Please join us for an in-depth discussion on this research, where you’ll learn about key findings and impacts, Chicago and Illinois-level priorities, and federal policy recommendations from the study.
